Paint the Sky – Lily G Blunt

Little bit of promo for a friend today 🙂  I met Lily at this year’s UKMeet – we shared a table at the book fair and had a great time. I adore the cover of Lily’s new book – I know you shouldn’t be swayed by cover art, but hot damn! I’d have this as a poster on my wall.

Genre: M/M, Contemporary Romance and Erotica
Length: 65,000 Words/230 pages
Release Date: August 30, 2014

A love of art…
A mutual interest in art draws two shy university students together. Ben admires Vinnie’s painting of the university building, so Vinnie invites him to an exhibition of his artwork. From a wealthy family, Ben purchases some of Vinnie’s art and arranges for the artist to personally hang the paintings in his apartment.
Starry, starry night…
Ben commissions Vinnie to paint his portrait, in order to spend more time with the artist. On the night of the sitting, Vinnie fingerpaints the starry night on Ben’s chest… and they kiss. They begin a relationship beneath the night sky, God’s own canvas.
But every relationship has its ups and downs and so it is with theirs. When Ben thinks Vinnie spends too much time with a fellow artist, his jealousy drives a wedge between them and forces Vinnie into the very thing Ben dreads.
Hold tight to your dreams…
Ben and Vinnie will have to walk through fire before they can find one another again. But if they believe, and if they keep their faith in the night sky and each other, just maybe they can make their dreams of love come true.

Vinnie led me across the room, pulling me by the shirt. “Lie back on the sofa for me and I’ll paint you.”
As if in a dream, I settled my head against one arm of the sofa, my legs dangling over the other end, scarcely breathing now. Vinnie knelt on the floor beside me with an open pot of paint in his hand.
Teasingly, he dipped his index finger into the dark blue paint as if it were cream he would lick off. His finger connected with my skin and he made short strokes across my chest, the coldness of the paint making me shiver.
Mesmerised by the closeness of his beautiful face, the view of the night sky through the window, and the picture forming upon my chest, I watched as dab after dab and stroke after stroke he built up a mix of shades, until a dark night sky with the moon and stars were there to be seen—a masterpiece, drying on the warmth of my blazing skin, a transient thing of beauty. His fingers skimmed my skin causing gooseflesh to ripple in waves down my arms and thighs. My nipples pebbled in response to his touch.
And when he was done, his lips met mine in a languid kiss; how our first kiss should have been—sweet, innocent, and full of promise. He pulled away, smiling down at me.
This was the beginning of something special.

Lily G. Blunt writes contemporary gay romance and erotica. She loves to explore the relationship between two men and the intensity of their physical and emotional attraction. Angst often features in her stories as she feels this demonstrates the depth of the men’s feelings for each other. Lily is forever writing imaginary scenes and plots in her head, but only a few ever make it to the page—there never seems to be enough hours in the day despite having left the teaching profession to concentrate on her writing!
Lily discovered the wonderful world of m/m romance novels four years ago via fan fiction and went on to write stories in her spare time. With the encouragement of her friends and readers she decided to publish some of her work.
Lily has several self-published stories available on Amazon. She is also published with Torquere Press and Wayward Ink Publishing.
Easily distracted from her writing, Lily makes videos using clips from gay-themed movies and posts gorgeous pictures of men kissing or making out on her tumblr and Facebook pages. Lily is also an avid supporter of GLBTQ rights and advocates equality for all.
Lily lives in central England with her rather bemused husband, two twenty-something children, and a ‘mad as a bag of frogs’ Shetland Sheepdog.

Welcome Lisabet Sarai and the Ingredients of Bliss!

A huge welcome to Lisabet who is giving away an amazing set of prizes and a free pdf cookbook to everyone who comments, so let rip and comment away. What’s your favourite recipe? What Asian food have you tried? I had snake steak in Thailand and yes – it tasted like chicken!theingredientsofbliss_800Out of Asia
By Lisabet Sarai

Greetings! This post is part of my blog tour for my new novel The Ingredients of Bliss. If you’ve read any of my other publicity about the book, you may have picked up on the fact that my heroine, Mei Lee “Emily” Wong, is a Chinese woman, from Hong Kong.

I’m not sure why I decided to make Emily Asian. I suppose the fact that I actually live in Asia might have something to do with it. Given the way her story developed, though, she really couldn’t be anything else. Her nationality, ethnicity and culture all influence the plot.

For one thing, her drive for success is a typically Chinese trait, and that’s what propels the short story (Her Secret Ingredient) which leads up to the novel. Emily would never have gotten sexually involved with Etienne Duvalier if she hadn’t been trying to advance her career.

Emily’s Asian heritage also sets the stage for her conflict with Etienne over cooking methods. Although she was trained in Paris, her personal recipes are Asian-influenced. Traditionalist Etienne views her creative Asian modifications to classic French recipes as something close to sacrilege.

Then there’s the aphrodisiac caterpillar fungus that is her “secret ingredient”, which is traditional in Asia. I did not make this up! I suppose I could have had her use Spanish fly or some other Western stimulant, but those have very negative connotations. Dōng chóng xià căo, “winter worm, summer grass”, in contrast, is viewed as a healthy way for men to retain their virility.

Of course, her Chinese background allows her to communicate – and negotiate – with the Hong Kong gangsters who abduct Etienne and Harry. Emily knows enough about the Triads to understand how they think. If I’d made her American or European, I would have probably had to replace the Triads with the Mafia. That would have been okay, I suppose, but does the world really need another take on The Godfather or The Sopranos?

Meanwhile, her secret entirely depends on her status as a Chinese woman. I can’t tell you what that secret is – you’ll have to buy the book to find out – but if Emily were not from Hong Kong, I’d have to rethink that entire aspect of the novel.

The one area of the book that would not change if Emily weren’t from Asia is her relationship with Harry. Though there’s a suggestion Etienne has a touch of “yellow fever” – a particular attraction to Asian women – Harry really doesn’t care. He’d love her regardless.

Emily’s a lucky woman. But then the Chinese place a lot of emphasis on luck.

Contemporary BDSM ménage
Totally Bound, 2014

One sexy French chef. One kinky American TV producer. One ambitious Chinese gal who thinks she wants them both. The ingredients of bliss? Or a recipe for disaster?

Accomplished cook Mei Lee “Emily” Wong knows exactly what she wants—her own show on the Tastes of France food channel. But life is full of complications. First, her deceptively nerdy producer, Harry Sanborne, initiates Emily into the delights of submission. Then her boss, legendary chef Etienne Duvalier, begs her to dominate him. Emily just can’t resist—especially when Harry orders her to explore her inner mistress. Suave and sexy Etienne will do whatever she asks—in the bedroom if not in the kitchen. And Harry, her lovingly diabolical Dom, adores pushing Emily’s limits.

When the network sends the trio to France to shoot a series of cooking shows on location, Emily knows her career is on the upswing. Her plans fall apart in Marseille as a Hong Kong drug syndicate kidnaps both Etienne and Harry. The Iron Hammer Triad mistakes Etienne for notorious gangster Jean Le Requin, who has stolen their drug shipment, worth millions. Emily realizes she must find the real Le Requin, retrieve the purloined dope, and bargain it for Harry’s and Etienne’s lives. The secret she’s been keeping from Harry might prove useful. Still, what chance does one woman whose knife skills are limited to chopping vegetables, have against the ruthless cruelty of two criminal organizations?

Here’s an X-rated excerpt to tempt you…

The hotel room held no trace of my lover’s scent. He’d been snatched before we could consummate our nocturnal plans.

I tried to recall Harry’s distinctive musk, without much success. The sense of smell is the one most intimately entwined with emotion, but also the most difficult to conceptualize or describe. I couldn’t summon the sense of well-being I always found in breathing him in, burying my nose in his clothing or his body.

Touch, then. When it came to touching me, Harry was a virtuoso. His repertoire ranged from the most delicate brush of fingertip over flesh to fiery caresses as painful as they were thrilling. Whether by instinct or by observation, he knew exactly how much I wanted, and how much I could take.

Rolling onto my back, I let my fingers graze my jaw then sweep down my neck to the hollow of my throat. This was one of his favorite gestures—and mine—one that never failed to send delicious shivers straight to my sex. Sure enough, my clit started to tingle. With just my forefinger, I continued into the valley between my breasts. I circled to the right, caressing the sensitive underside through the T-shirt Jean had provided.

The soft fabric transmitted the delicious, barely-there sensation. Moisture leaked from my cleft, dampening the seam of my borrowed jeans.

My eyes still shut tight, I summoned memories of Harry’s caresses. He’d go from gentle to intense in a breath, and so did I, seizing both nipples and pinching as hard as I could manage. Like turning the knob on a stove, this raised the heat level. My gluts tensed and my hips bucked. Meanwhile, my erect nipples throbbed, aching but craving more. I clamped down on them with even greater force, digging my fingernails into the swollen flesh. The first quivers of an orgasm stirred in my depths.

‘You love it when it hurts.’ I could hear Harry’s warm, teasing voice in my mind. ‘You’re a natural sub. The more I torture you, the more you want.’

But of course, Harry’s ministrations weren’t torture, they were bliss. Every slap or spank he inflicted upon me, every kiss of the whip, every brutal thrust of his cock, was edged with delight.

About the Author

I started both writing and cooking at an early age, and I’ve continued to indulge both passions as I’ve matured. Usually I’m an improvisational cook; I’m not all that fond of following recipes, and when I do, I almost always introduce my own variations. My philosophy tends to be the more spice, the better.

You could say the same about my writing. Since the release of my debut novel Raw Silk in 1999, I’ve published lots of erotica and erotic romance in almost every sub-genre– more than fifty single author titles, plus dozens of short stories in various erotic anthologies, including the Lambda winner Where the Girls Are and the IPPIE Best Erotic Book of 2011, Carnal Machines. My gay scifi erotic romance Quarantine won a Rainbow Awards 2012 Honorable Mention.

I have more degrees than anyone would ever need, from prestigious educational institutions who would no doubt be deeply embarrassed by my chosen genre. Widely traveled but still with a long bucket list of places to go, I currently live in Southeast Asia with my indulgent husband and two exceptional felines, where I pursue an alternative career that is completely unrelated to my creative writing.

GRL 2014 – books for signing

grl-2014-logoI’ve had a few people ask about books for signing at GRL. Due to local tax issues and the fact that I will be traveling transatlantic, I will not be bringing books to sell at the event. I would love to sign books you already have (however dog-eared they might be!). You can also order paperbacks and bring them along. Alternatively, if you don’t want to carry heaps of books with you, I will be bringing some bookplates with me that you can take away and stick in your copies back at home 🙂

I have the following editions available in paperback:

Tales from the Edge Volume I (Books #1 and #2)

Tales from the Edge Volume II (Books #3 and #4)

Rasputin’s Kiss

Evil’s Embrace

What’s his Passion? anthology

The links above will take you to the Totally Bound 1-click pages, but these are also available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, All Romance etc.

I’ll be bringing along a limited amount of swag – the offspring has been making bracelets for me and I have some fridge magnets and other goodies, but most of all I’m looking forward to seeing you, so please say hello. Hugs gladly accepted!

Smuggler’s Grasp – an Investigating Love short story.

As promised, you’ll now find Smuggler’s Grasp in the free reads section 🙂 This takes place between Evil’s Embrace and Tarot’s Touch, and picks up the storyline started during Conor and Alex’s holiday to Cornwall. I thought I’d share a few pictures to set the scene…

News from the writing cave…

Things have been so busy recently that I’ve been guilty of neglecting the blog. I’m going to try and get better at regular updates, promise. So, what have I been up to?

The launch of the What’s his Passion imprint at Totally Bound was really exciting and it was great to be included in the opening anthology. Picturing Lysander is a very short story, but just the start of Kyle and Brock’s adventures. A full-length novel will follow in 2015.

You may have spotted some new book pages on the website. Take a look and you’ll find forward publishing dates for all my planned work in the next 18 months or so. There will be two more Tales from the Edge, and a new full-length novel, Warlock (which has its roots in a free story that some of you may remember).

Coming up soon, will be a new short story, Mantrap. This will be included in a Totally Bound collection and will be followed by a series of short, character-based follow up stories. Can’t say much about this at the moment, so watch this space for news.

Book #3 in the Investigating Love series, Tarot’s Touch, will also be out before the end of the year and I’ll be sharing the artwork very soon. This series has some of my favorite covers and the new one is just as good. I’m also working on a free side-story featuring Alex and Conor, which will be posted here on the blog very soon. It’s called Smuggler’s Grasp and is set in Cornwall (again those of you with long memories may remember parts of it).

I’d love to hear what you’re looking forward to the most. I have an e-copy of the What’s his Passion? anthology to give away to one lucky commenter so let rip and comment away 🙂 I’m also hoping to fit in a free short story for Hallowe’en featuring Olly and his friends, so tell me what you’d like to see them getting up to. You never know, your idea may just get included…

Best wishes,

Party tonight!

Come and join the launch celebrations for Totally Bound’s What’s His Passion imprint. I’ll be there and I can’t wait to hear from some of you 🙂 especially as Picturing Lysander has spent over a week in the top 20 gay short reads chart at Amazon. Thank you!
